Paso Robles Contemporary Outdoor Living
Location: Paso Robles, California
Date: Completed 2026
Project Type: Landscape Design, Landscape Detailing & Layout, Fountain Design, Paving Design, Native Planting Design
This repeat client project centers on a contemporary new home, resulting in a minimal, naturalistic landscape design that complements the residence’s distinctive character. Clad in stainless steel that has naturally weathered over time, the home, designed by an Argentinian architect, sits quietly within expansive oak woodlands and embraces its surrounding views.
The landscape draws directly from the home’s materiality, with corten steel establishing the palette for the site. Concrete step pads transition seamlessly into gravel patios and understated hardscaping, creating a cohesive and restrained design language that feels integrated with the land.
Located within a high fire-risk zone, the project incorporates thoughtful fire-hardening strategies to protect both the home and its environment. Plant selections are intentionally muted, minimal, and regionally appropriate, allowing the architecture and surrounding natural landscape to remain the focal point.
